    Olathe Municipal Court

    Experienced Lawyer in Olathe, Kansas

The Olathe Municipal Court has two judges and four city prosecutors. The prosecutors are very competent, experienced, and strict.

The Olathe, Kansas city court monitors its own probation and diversions. If you are placed on granted diversion or probation in Olathe, KS in the municipal court, you will report to the Olathe Court Services Department for your monitoring, UA's and otherwise. They also do your PSI (pre-sentence evaluation), in-house, to determine your criminal record. Furthermore, they also have the ability to do their own ADSAP evaluation, with is a drug and alcohol substance abuse determination.

As an Olathe lawyer, I have represented hundreds of clients dealing with serious legal issues. If you are dealing with the Olathe Municipal Court, it is likely for a misdemeanor criminal charge. Any felony charges will be in the Johnson County, KS District Court. The benefit of your case being in the Olathe City Court is that if you do not like the results, you likely have de novo appeal rights. This means that your Olathe attorney can get an automatic appeal to the District Court, which is also located in Olathe, Kansas, right across the street from our law firm. In the Kansas District Courts, you have a right to a jury trial for any charges where jail time is a possibility. Thus, you don't have the right to a jury trial for mere traffic violations, such as speeding. Don't confuse a DUI charge as a mere traffic violation. Drunk Driving charges absolutely allow for a jury trial, but only at the District Court level. Any trial you have in the Olathe Municipal Court will be a bench trial, which means the judge decides everything, without a jury. As an experienced criminal defense attorney, I generally prefer jury trials.

If you are dealing with serious legal issues, contact our Olathe law firm to discuss your case with professional Olathe lawyers who will take on your case with passion.
