What made you want to become a lawyer?

It seemed like the best fit for my skill set. I strongly believed that I could see what was just in any given circumstance and could persuade others—judges and jurors—to see things the same way I did.

In your opinion, what sets your firm apart from the rest?

We are good at what we do and are always trying to do them better. However, many lawyers fall into the trap of pretending to know more than they do. We are humble enough to seek other resources and to bring them to bear—even consulting other professionals—when we think it will help your case.

Tell us about a case that you are particularly proud of:

I represented a client in a highly contentious case that went to the Court of Appeals three times. We stayed in the fight for as long as our client was willing and prevailed in the end.

What steps do you take to prepare for a difficult case?

Meticulously pour over documents and make sure we know the law that applies better than the other guys. If the case is going to trial, our job is not only to prove our story, but also to expose the other side when they are lying about a key issue or fact. There is nothing more satisfying than doing that in open court. It takes a lot of preparation, however.

What advice do you most often give to your clients & why?

It's our job to help you. We keep your confidences. Don't keep from us things we should know. If there's a bad fact that you bring to our attention, we can almost always manage it in a way that doesn't materially affect your case. If you withhold information from us, we can't do that.

How do you view your role in the attorney-client relationship?

Counselor, first and foremost. We tell you what that law says about your problem and then what the likelihood of various outcome(s) will be. We worry about the legal details and procedures and make sure you have the information you need to make key decisions.

Tell us about a turning point in your career:

Partnering up with my law school chum. Professionally, we complement each other, somewhat like a marriage in that respect. I get the benefits of his strengths and he mine.

How long have you been practicing law?

I graduated in 2005 and was licensed in 2006. Before that I had the benefit of doing the bulk of the legal writing, research, and motions practice in a small but busy civil litigation firm.

Why should a prospective client choose to work with your firm?

We always give you the good, the bad and the ugly in your case. If your case is tough or involves a novel situation, we aren't afraid to get creative in finding a solution. If there is a way to get a client out of a tough situation, we will find it.
