Newland, MO (September 26, 2024) – A pedestrian accident reported in Pettis County claimed one person’s life. The incident was reported at around 11:15 a.m. on September 24.

Official reports show that a pedestrian was struck by a 2005 Peterbilt 379 on the 17,500 block of Missouri Highway O. Authorities arrived at the scene and immediately closed off the roadway to provide assistance. The pedestrian, identified as 60-year-old Jay Bone of Smithton, Missouri, was severely injured in the crash. Despite medical efforts, he died from his injuries. No other injuries were reported. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the collision are being investigated.
