Sedalia, MO (September 2, 2023) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that a 27-year-old man was hospitalized following an accident that took place in Pettis County.
Authorities were notified of the crash just after 8:40 p.m. on August 30.
Crash investigations show that the driver of the 2010 Toyota Prius failed to yield while turning near the area of US Highway 65 and West 20th Street. As a result, the vehicle collided with a 2004 Yamaha V-Star motorcycle. The impact of the crash caused the motorcyclist to be ejected on the road.
The motorcycle was severely damaged in the crash. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
The motorcyclist, identified as 27-year-old Alex Schwinke of Sedalia, Missouri, was seriously injured. He was transported to the University of Missouri hospital and underwent emergency treatment.
The crash is being investigated by authorities at this time.
