Bates City, MO (January 24, 2024) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of an automobile accident that occurred in Lafayette County and injured two people. Calls for help came in at around 5:10 a.m. on January 23.

According to preliminary reports provided by Cpl. T A Baxter, a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling on Route Z when it became involved in a collision with a 2008 Volvo tractor-trailer just south of Mountain View Drive. The Nissan was totaled as a result of the accident. The tractor-trailer sustained moderate damage. Both of the vehicles were towed from the scene by Jackson County tow. Medical personnel provided treatment to 30-year-old Miguel Ramirez Carranza and 34-year-old Carla Gonsales Lopez while at the scene. The two victims were transported to Centerpoint Medical Center, where they underwent further treatment for their injuries. At this time, the crash is under investigation.
