Peculiar Twp., MO (January 29, 2024) – A young child lost her life as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred in Cass County on Saturday afternoon, January 27.
Reports provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol indicate that at approximately 2:40 p.m., the driver of a 2021 Kia Soul ran a stop sign at the intersection of Missouri State Route 7 and County Road 227. As the vehicle proceeded through the intersection, it collided with a 2019 Honda Pilot. Both vehicles were totaled in the accident and had to be removed from the scene.
A total of eight people were injured as a result of the accident. Emergency medical services transported a 6-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, where they were treated for moderate injuries. Four additional victims, identified as a 14-year-old female, 38-year-old Jamie Mensing, 46-year-old Kevin Mensing, and 50-year-old Michelle Baker, were all transported to Belton Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment.
A 9-year-old girl and 62-year-old Mark Pinkerton were both transported to Cass Regional Medical Center for emergency care. Authorities confirmed that the nine-year-old girl passed away from her injuries after arriving. At this time, investigations into the crash are underway.
