Baldwin, KS – One Killed in Motorcycle Crash on US-59 near US-56

Baldwin, KS (March 5, 2024) – A fatal motorcycle accident reported in Douglas County on Sunday morning claimed one person’s life. The incident occurred at approximately 10:25 a.m. on March 3.

According to reports provided by the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2015 Indian Chieftain motorcycle was heading south along US Highway 59. For reasons unknown, the vehicle became involved in a collision and experienced a tire blowout. As a result, the passenger and the driver were both ejected from the motorcycle. The passenger, identified as 49-year-old Margaret Kathleen Coleman, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased while at the scene. The driver, 48-year-old Christopher Robert Stergos, was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for emergency medical care. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
