Liberty, MO (August 1, 2023) – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that 30-year-old John Paul Scheidecker of Clay County has died due to a fatal car crash that occurred early Sunday morning, July 30.
At around 4:00 a.m., the sheriff’s office and firefighters were called to the scene of an accident that occurred on Northeast 120th Street.
According to reports, Scheidecker was walking on Northeast 120th Street during the early morning hours. For unknown reasons, he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene of the crash without stopping.
Authorities arrived at the scene and located Scheidecker near Missouri State Highway A and Fishing River Road. He was suffering from severe injuries. Authorities pronounced him deceased while at the scene.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
