Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Missouri

Fatal pedestrian crashes take the lives of thousands of people in the United States annually. In more recent years, the state of Missouri implemented several laws designed to protect pedestrians and prevent them from being harmed in accidents. Some of these laws include:

  • Mo. Rev. Stat. § 300.160: This provides pedestrians the right to walk at certain times in specific areas, preventing drivers from entering the areas when the pedestrians are afforded the right.
  • Mo. Rev. Stat. § 300.375: This provides pedestrians the right of way to cross the road in designated crossing areas

Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent reckless drivers from entering our roads and causing harm to innocent people. We continue to see innocent people lose their lives as a result of drivers who fail to yield, run red lights, or turn at intersections without first looking for foot traffic.

The loss of a loved one due to a fatal accident can be incredibly difficult to accept. Knowing your loved one died in an accident that was preventable just makes it even more difficult to move forward. After the loss of a loved one, it is important that you seek immediate legal guidance. A wrongful death lawyer in Raytown can help you determine the best course of action moving forward.

After the sudden and unexpected loss due to a fatal car crash, your family may be able to file a wrongful death claim. This legal action helps you get money for funeral costs and various other damages.
