Adrian, MO – Two Hurt in Three-Vehicle Crash on I-49 near MM 138.2

Adrian, MO (December 5, 2023) – Emergency crews out of Bates County were requested at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Sunday evening that ended in injuries. Calls for assistance were received at around 7:06 p.m. on December 3.

According to preliminary crash reports provided by Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper DA Jones, a 2016 Nissan Murano collided with a deer on Interstate 49. The vehicle began to slow down on the southbound side of the roadway near mile marker 138.2 when it was struck by a 2012 Kia Soul. The Kia then collided with a 2017 Ford Mustang. The Kia and the Nissan were both totaled in the accident and had to be removed from the scene by area towing companies.

The drivers of both vehicles were injured. Emergency medical service personnel responded to the scene and rendered aid to 31-year-old Nathaniel Driver of Butler, Missouri, and 87-year-old James Yoss of Butler, Missouri. Driver was transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital for emergency treatment. Yoss was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital by EMS. Investigations surrounding the crash are underway.
