Independence, MO (December 31, 2023) – Emergency officials responded to the scene of an automobile accident that sent a pedestrian to a local hospital with injuries. The accident occurred at around 7:05 p.m. on December 28.
According to official reports, a pedestrian was crossing Missouri 78, 23rd Street, during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, a Jeep Wrangler, which was traveling eastbound on the roadway, struck the pedestrian near the intersection of Norwood Avenue. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries due to the crash. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Jeep, who was not injured in the accident, remained on site. At this time, the accident is being investigated.
