Mound Twp., MO (December 9, 2023) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that 57-year-old Jerry Urick of Kansas City, Missouri, lost his life as a result of a crash that took place in Bates County. The accident was reported to officials at around three a.m. on December 5.

According to law enforcement, a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling on Interstate 49 during the early morning hours. For reasons unknown, the vehicle struck a pedestrian near mile marker 137.6. The pedestrian, identified as Urick, sustained fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased while on-site. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is actively investigating to determine what caused this accident to occur.
