Gladstone, MO (July 5, 2023) – Several people were left injured following a car crash that took place in Clay County on Monday, July 3.
At around 7:03 p.m., a 2019 Kia Sedona was traveling on the northbound side of Interstate 29. As the vehicle slowed down to merge into traffic near mile marker 2.2, a 2017 Mazda 6 crashed into the rear of the vehicle. Both vehicles were totaled as a result of the incident.
EMS personnel responded to care for the victims who suffered injuries in the motor vehicle collision. A 7-year-old boy from Kansas City, Missouri, was transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital for emergency treatment. Three additional victims received medical care at the scene. The victims were identified as 26-year-old Allison Dawson, 33-year-old Sara Dawson, and 38-year-old Amanda Smith.
Allison Dawson and Sara Dawson were both transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Barry Road Hospital for emergency care.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
