Kansas City, MO (July 14, 2023) – On July 12, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a major accident in Clay County that ended in injuries.
At around 7:44 a.m., an unknown vehicle was traveling on Interstate 29 when the vehicle swerved into another lane in front of a 2017 Dodge Journey. The incident caused the Dodge to swerve and collide with a 2016 Mack truck. The Mack truck overturned on the roadway.
The Dodge then collided with a concrete barrier and traveled across the roadway. A 2016 Toyota Corolla and a 2020 Land Rover Discovery were both struck by debris. The Mack truck and the Dodge were both totaled in the accident.
Three people were hurt as a result of the accident. 28-year-old Martin Perez Valdes, 30-year-old Sydney Turley, and 59-year-old Robert Thompson were all transported by EMS to North Kansas City Hospital for emergency care.
The accident is currently being investigated.
