Kansas City, MO (July 26, 2023) – Emergency officials were called to the site of an automobile accident on Tuesday that sent one person to a local hospital in critical condition.
On July 25, the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department was notified that a person in a red Toyota Corolla was involved in an armed robbery and a carjacking just before noon in the area. Authorities located the vehicle and began to pursue it.
During the pursuit, the driver went across all of the lanes on Interstate 435 before colliding with a black Volvo T6. The crash also resulted in a red Freightliner semi-truck with a car carrier striking the rear of the Volvo near Bannister Road.
The driver of the Volvo was severely injured in the crash. The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where they were admitted in critical condition.
The victim of the initial carjacking was also transported to a local hospital. However, the extent of the injuries is not known at this time.
The suspect was taken into police custody.
The incident is being investigated.
