Kansas City, MO (June 24, 2023) – A multi-vehicle wreck reported in the Kansas City area on Friday morning claimed the life of 70-year-old Michael Mahoney of Olathe, Kansas.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was summoned to the crash site at approximately 11:54 a.m. on June 23.
According to official reports, a rear-end collision between a 2019 Volkswagen Beetle and a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck took place on the northbound side of Interstate 29. The impact of the crash caused the Dodge to strike the rear of the 2017 Cadillac XT5 just north of Northwest 64th Street.
The incident caused the Missouri State Highway Patrol to shut down a portion of the roadway as they worked to remove the damaged vehicles.
Two people were injured as a result of the crash. EMS transported 59-year-old Nancy McGuire and 70-year-old Michael Mahoney to North Kansas City Hospital. Authorities confirmed that Mahoney passed away after arriving.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
