Kansas City, MO – Two Killed in Fatal Crash on I-435 near NW Bannister Rd

Kansas City, MO (October 17, 2023) – A fatal accident reported in Kansas City claimed the lives of two victims. The incident took place at around 1:30 p.m. on October 14.

Reports provided by the Kansas City Police Department show that a man was traveling at a high speed while operating his Jeep Cherokee on Interstate 435. As the vehicle proceeded through the intersection of Northwest Bannister Road, it became involved in a collision with a Honda Accord. The impact of the collision caused the Jeep to roll over multiple times before coming to rest.

A young toddler was ejected from the vehicle. The child and an adult female both suffered fatal injuries a more pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Derrius Tolson, was injured in the accident. He was transported to a local hospital for emergency care. Authorities determined that Tolson was raising his vehicle at the time of the accident. Police took him into custody, where he faces two counts of first-degree involuntary manslaughter.
