Sedalia, MO – Five Hurt in Three-Vehicle Truck Crash on US-50 near S Engineer Ave

Sedalia, MO (October 1, 2023) – A major motor vehicle accident reported in Pettis County left several people injured on Friday, September 29.

At around 8:30 a.m., the Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash on US Highway 50.

According to reports provided by MSHP Trooper JW Hunter, the driver of a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe failed to stop at a traffic control device while traveling on the eastbound side of US Highway 50.

As a result, the vehicle collided with a 2022 International truck. The force of the impact caused the truck to overturn and come to rest on top of the Chevrolet and a 2004 Ford Expedition near South Engineer Avenue.

Emergency officials arrived at the scene and shut down the roadway. All three vehicles were totaled in the accident. Multiple tow trucks from Don’s Truck Towing of Sedalia, Missouri, responded to the scene to remove the damaged vehicles.

A total of five people were injured in the accident. EMS provided care to 27-year-old Jacob Weeks, 31-year-old Kayla Blakely, and 42-year-old Troy Harms. The three victims were transported to Bothwell Regional Hospital by ambulance.

A 5-year-old female suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported by Children’s Mercy helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, for emergency medical treatment.

The fifth victim, identified as 33-year-old Brandon Hill, was transported by Life Air ambulance to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

At this time, the crash is being investigated.

We hope Troy Harms, Jacob Weeks, Brandon Hill, Kayla Blakely, and the young child injured in this accident recover quickly.
