Independence, MO (September 30, 2023) – A motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle took place on Wednesday in Independence that claimed the lives of two people.
At approximately 5:40 p.m. on September 27, the Independence Police Department responded to a crash at the intersection of East US Highway 24 and North Elsea Smith Road.
According to reports, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound through the intersection when it was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck, which was traveling northbound.
Two people on the motorcycle, identified as the driver and their passenger, were both ejected from the vehicle. The two victims were fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge remained on-site and spoke with law enforcement. Investigations into the crash are underway.
