Mt Pleasant Twp., MO (February 7, 2024) – Three people were transported to area hospitals with injuries following a motor vehicle accident that took place in Cass County on Monday, February 5. The accident was reported to law enforcement at around 3:55 p.m.
Reports provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper GA Stineman show that a 2012 Dodge Avenger collided with a 2001 Peterbilt 379 while traveling on Route Y. The incident prompted authorities to close down the roadway near East 187th Street. The two vehicles were towed from the scene of the crash. Three people were harmed in the accident. Emergency medical services responded to the scene to provide care to 31-year-old Ashley Smith of Grandview, Missouri, 34-year-old Dierra Russell of Independence, Missouri, and 35-year-old Dinera Sharp of Kansas City, Missouri. The three victims were transported to Benton Regional Hospital for emergency treatment. Investigations into the crash are currently ongoing.
