Fristoe Township, MO (October 9, 2023) – A fatal accident reported in Benton County claimed the lives of two people. The accident was reported to the Missouri State Highway Patrol at around 1:24 p.m. on October 7.
According to official reports, a collision occurred on US Highway 65 during the afternoon hours. One of the vehicles involved in the crash, a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle, went off the roadway just north of Jackman Avenue. The vehicle struck the ground and continued forward before crashing into three trees.
Two people involved in the accident were fatally injured. The victims were identified as 64-year-old Matthew Dixon and 66-year-old Carin Dixon, both of Chillicothe, Missouri.
The two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene by Benton County coroner Weston Miller.
At this time, the crash is being investigated.
