Kearney, MO (October 19, 2023) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Clay County left three people seriously injured. The accident took place at around 6:30 p.m. on October 16.
According to reports provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Master Sgt. CO Tubbs, a 2005 Acura was traveling on Interstate 35 when it crossed over the center median near mile marker 26 for unknown reasons. As a result, the vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a 2015 Volkswagen. The impact of the crash sent the Acura off the roadway, where it overturned and came to rest on its roof. Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
Three victims were injured in the accident. Two of the injured parties, 20-year-old Nahni Shaw and 46-year-old Melanie Ramey, were both provided transportation by EMS to Liberty Hospital for emergency treatment. The third victim, 62-year-old Lisa Clubb, was transported to North Kansas City Hospital.
At this time, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating.
