Claycomo, MO – One Killed, Two Hurt in Car Crash on I-435 near MM 52

Claycomo, MO (February 12, 2024) – A serious motor vehicle accident took place in Clay County on Friday evening that claimed one person’s life. The incident occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on February 9.

Reports provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers show that a 2014 Dodge Journey and a 2018 Jeep Wrangler collided on the northbound side of Interstate 435. The crash involved the Jeep going off the left side of the roadway and striking a concrete barrier before overturning. The driver of the Jeep, 53-year-old Julie Groce of Kansas City, Missouri, was severely injured in the crash. She was transported to North Kansas City Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Two additional victims were injured. The victims were identified as 40-year-old Robert Patterson and a 15-year-old male, both of Columbia, Missouri. The teen was transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital for emergency care. Patterson was transported to Truman Medical Center for treatment. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
