Car Accidents in Missouri

Thousands of Missourians suffer injuries as a result of car crashes every year. Although accidents can occur at any location, many of them occur at busy intersections. About 36% of all traffic collisions in the United States occur at intersections, according to statistics provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The following factors contribute to the majority of car crashes at intersections in Missouri, which are caused by negligent drivers:

  • Speeding: The likelihood of an accident increases when drivers speed through intersections.
  • Turning: When a driver makes a turn at an intersection without yielding the right of way or by turning too wide or too fast, many collisions occur.
  • Poor visibility: There are various factors that can lead to poor visibility at intersections, including obstructions, defective traffic control devices, and inadequate lighting, which can make it more difficult for drivers to see pedestrians and other vehicles.
