Lee’s Summit, MO (January 1, 2024) – Two women were transported to area hospitals with injuries following an automobile accident that occurred in Jackson County. At around 4:50 p.m. on December 29, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and area firefighters were called to the scene of an accident on Interstate 470.
According to crash reports, a 2008 Hyundai crashed into the rear of a 2007 Mitsubishi while traveling on the westbound side of the interstate. The force of the collision caused the driver of the Mitsubishi to lose control of their vehicle. The Mitsubishi was struck by a 2020 Ford Escape near mile marker 10. The Mitsubishi then collided with a retaining wall. The Ford and the Mitsubishi sustained moderate damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Two people involved in the accident were injured. EMS responded to the scene to provide care to 51-year-old Melissa Wisdom and 75-year-old Gayle Watson. Lee’s Summit Fire transported the two victims to Centerpoint Hospital for emergency care. The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently being investigated.
Our thoughts go out to Melissa Wisdom and Gayle Watson at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
