Independence, MO (April 23, 2024) – One man was transported to an area hospital with injuries following a motor vehicle accident that occurred in Jackson County. The incident took place at around 9:50 p.m. on April 19.
According to official reports, the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on US Highway 40 when the driver attempted to change lanes near Countryside Road. After changing lanes, the vehicle collided with a 2010 Toyota RAV4. The impact of the crash sent both vehicles off the roadway and into a building. The two vehicles were totaled. A passenger in the Toyota, 29-year-old Blake Iron Whiteman, was injured. He was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center for emergency treatment. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
